With a coronavirus infection, the immune response occurs later than with influenza, the virus manages to multiply not only in the upper respiratory tract, but also penetrates into the lower sections, which is why the lungs are often affected, the deputy director for clinical and analytical work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor told RIA Novosti. She clarified that due to such a delayed immune response, severe damage to the lungs occurs and the inner layer of blood vessels is damaged, which provokes thrombus formation. At the same time, according to Pshenichnaya, the course of the disease is different for everyone – in some it proceeds with normal temperature or its short-term rise within 1-2 days, in some patients catarrhal symptoms appear immediately, in others the disease manifests itself as general weakness, muscle pain, with the addition of cough or shortness of breath in the second week.
