Epic Games Shut Down Fortnite Servers in China

Suara.com – Epic Games officially announced that the game Fortnite officially closed in China starting November 15. Registration of new players has been officially stopped on November 1st.

Fortnite itself was launched in China in 2018, but is still in beta. At that time, Epic teamed up with gaming giant Tencent.

Unfortunately, Epic did not explain the reason why they closed the battle royale game in China. They just say thank you to the players.

“Thank you to all the Chinese Fortnite players who rode the Battle Bus with us by participating in the Beta version,” said Epic.

Fortnite itself is known as Fortress Night in China. This game has some differences from the original version, such as a policy of limiting game play to no in-app item purchases.

According to the BBC, many games from the West need to be changed significantly when entering China, both due to regulatory and cultural factors.

The Chinese government does have strict rules for game players, especially minors. Last August, Chinese regulators announced that players under the age of 18 could only play games for three hours per week, on Fridays, weekends and holidays.

In addition, Fortnite is also not a popular battle royale game in China since its initial launch. There, PUBG is more popular, both PC and mobile versions.
