Epic Games confirmed on Wednesday (May 13th) that Fortnite will also be released for the next generation of consoles – however, there will be no new version.
Epic Games would like to familiarize its fans with precise details in the coming months, but some of the most important questions have been answered with anticipatory obedience. The announcement of the video game bestseller for the upcoming generation of consoles does not go with a new version. However, the current variant is being optimized so that the hardware and features of the next-gen consoles can be used extensively. The stronger hardware of the new platforms offers developers the opportunity to improve performance and graphics. For the release of the new consoles, Fortnite will build on Unreal Engine 4, In mid-2021, the switch to Unreal Engine 5 is planned.
Epic Games also wants to support player progress across different console generations and platforms the respective accounts with the individual score can be used and nothing is lost. The big goal is to enable cross-platform gaming – including all consoles and the next generation. The outdated consoles are not excluded with the release of the new generation, either PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will continue to receive support.
