Epic Games Acquires Fall Guys Developer Mediatonic – Gaming – News

Epic Games has acquired the Tonic Games Group, the parent company of Mediatonic, among others. Mediatonic is the developer of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. The developer now says he has more resources to work on Fall Guys.

How much Epic Games paid for British Tonic, is stated in the press release not clear. The companies say Fall Guys gameplay will not change and Epic will continue to invest in the game. In a faq indicates Mediatonic that Fall Guys will remain available on Steam and PlayStation consoles. Also the game is still coming to Xbox consoles in de Nintendo Switch.

In the faq, Mediatonic does report that there are certain features of Epic games Fortnite and Rocket League, which the developers would like to implement in Fall Guys. The developers cite accounts, cross platform and group modes as examples. Presumably, the acquisition will make it easier to bring these features to Fall Guys.

Mediatonic says it has been in talks with Epic Games for some time. The Mediatonic team will continue to work on Fall Guys as a group. For the time being, the developers are not yet merged with other studios of Epic Games.

Fall Guys first came out in August 2020 for PlayStation 4 and Windows. In the platform game, players have to complete levels with up to sixty other players. In some levels they have to work together. Every level players drop out until there is a winner. Tweakers wrote last year a review of Fall Guys.
