We freeze the meat, dry the mushrooms and can the cucumbers. Of course, we can also freeze mushrooms and preserve meat, but freeze cucumbers? This may not seem like a very good idea. Cucumbers are full of water, and this will probably turn the salad bowl into an unattractive, mushy mushroom after thawing.

Freeze the remaining cucumbers

But it works after all. This option will certainly be welcomed by all those who have harvested a large crop of cucumbers on their beds and do not have time to process them. But it can also be used by those who came across a favorable promotional price of cucumbers in the store. But how many of them can be bought for stock, so that we don’t have to throw them away after some time when they are rotten and moldy?

You can freeze cucumbers. But choose healthy ones, with firm flesh and small seeds. Those with large seeds are not suitable for long-term storage. Before that, you have to scrape them and cut them into cubes, slices or grate them. Decide according to which dish you want to prepare from them.

Dry, cut, grate

If you decide to cut the cucumbers, first thoroughly dry the resulting rounds or cubes with a paper towel to remove moisture. Then spread them on a tray, cover with food foil and freeze. Once frozen, put them in portions in microtene bags and return to the freezer. This will prevent the pieces from sticking together into one big lump.

Portioning is very convenient. When you prepare a cucumber salad in the winter, you don’t have to defrost and refreeze the amount you don’t need at once.

Proceed in the same way for grated salad greens, of course you do not need to dry the grated cucumber before freezing. But freeze the juice that is released from them separately. Pour it into ice makers and then add the resulting cubes to bags with grated cucumbers.

You don’t have to worry about thawed cucumbers losing their flavor. They will taste the same as if you just picked them in the garden, just maybe they will change color a little.

Do not freeze before use

When you need them, do not freeze them, but prepare, for example, a salad and add the cucumbers to it still frozen. Mix and let the cubes loosen between the other ingredients. Proceed in the same way, no matter what kind of food you want to prepare from them. You will see that you do not know the difference.
