London (AFP) – Starting Monday, England will propose a fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine to those over 75 years of age and immunosuppressed people over 12 years of age, the public health service (NHS) reported on Sunday.

In total, close to five million people will be able to receive the vaccine and 600,000 will be encouraged to make an appointment this week to be vaccinated, according to the NHS.

“Following the massive success of the rollout (of vaccination) so far, this spring we are offering the over-75s and the most vulnerable a booster dose to complete their protection against this virus,” Health Minister Sajid Javid said. it’s a statement.

In England, eligible adults at the fourth dose will receive the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Adolescents from 12 to 18 years old will receive only the one from Pfizer.

The government is preparing “for the fourth dose because we will need it,” British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said at the Conservative Party conference in Blackpool, northern England, on Saturday.
