Regarding the most important features of the violations, he said: “The main violation that we observed was the buying of votes today. It was exaggerated and spread as if it were a normal matter. We monitored that and submitted reports to the National Elections Authority via email,” continuing: “There were people asking, ‘How much is the vote,’ as if it were a normal matter?” One of our colleagues, after he finished voting, received a coupon worth 200 pounds.”
He continued: “We must acknowledge the violations in order to address them in order to move forward. Any subjective vote disrupts the electoral process, but in general it has no effect on changing the shape of the result, and there were no violations that generally affected the conduct of the electoral process.”
Regarding his campaign’s opinion on the size of participation after it feared its candidate would abstain, he said: “The presence of an opposition candidate with a high ceiling of opposition political speech that strongly criticized competitors, especially the current authority, with this high ceiling of intensity, had a very large impact on the youth and a large number of those who wanted to boycott or cancel the campaign.” He voted on the pretext that there was no hope and that everyone who participated as an alternative candidate, when they heard Farid Zahran, whether on television or seminars held in the governorates, pushed people to rethink their thoughts, which prompted a large segment of the boycotters to change their opinion and participate.”
He praised the percentage of voting and participation in the presidential elections, saying: “We saw a wide participation of women from the middle class, not those who were sent, bought their votes, or took cartons, and in some committees they were more than men.”
He concluded: “We felt happy and that we had a role in building this country, and we hope that what happened today will be an important step in the democratic transformation in this country.”
