The historically high prices for electricity and natural gas are again forcing an energy supplier to throw in the towel. Aeco – a small supplier – says it will stop the activities.

Aeco is a small supplier, but was active in the three regions. On the customer site, the company says it will stop its activities. Unfortunately, due to the sharp rise in electricity and gas prices since the beginning of January 2021, we are no longer able to provide our customers with energy.
The Brussels energy regulator Brugel confirms that from 1 March Aeco has been denied access to the grid. In Wallonia, the procedure to withdraw the supply license is said to have been initiated.
In Flanders, Aeco is a very small supplier, with around 500 electricity and 100 gas customers. Despite the message from Aeco that it will stop, the Flemish energy watchdog Vreg is not aware of this, it sounds. “We have no ongoing proceedings,” said a spokeswoman.
