“The energy bill consists of a lot of parts, and it contains a lot of levies and excise duties,” says Delmée. “In my opinion, it would be better to transfer them to taxes. Because those are taxes, and there there are broader shoulders to bear the burden. But now those taxes are included in the energy bill, and there the amounts are the same for everyone. A switch to taxes lowers the bill and makes it a fairer process.”
Delmée states that the energy suppliers with the higher advance bills do not make a profit on the customers’ cover. “I can speak for us, the profit we get, that’s commas after the percent, so a 0 and then numbers after the decimal. I can’t speak for others and what they earn, but it’s not a rich business. There is definitely a win, but that’s not always a given.”
