The number of candidates who can become the newest member of K3 has fallen to twelve. In the first and only bootcamp, three candidates were sent home by an emotional Hanne and Marthe.

The adventure is over for the Flemish Elise (28) and the Dutch Jemaima (24) and Babette (22). After a three-day bootcamp in Poperinge, they had to say goodbye to their fellow candidates and to Hanne and Marthe. It was not so easy for the latter two. While Hanne still wanted to send them away with good courage and a word of comfort, tears welled up in her too.

It has been a bootcamp full of surprises. At first they didn’t even know they were going to boot camp. When the candidates had recovered from that surprise – and there was not much time – there was already another: follow a K3 show and a meet & greet. Yes, here Klaasje came for the first time to peep curiously around the corner. When they left again, the candidates of the four judges – Ingeborg, Natalia, Gordon and Samantha Steenwijk – were told that after this boot camp, three candidates would drop out just before the studio shows.
They were immediately allowed to drive to Poperinge in a couple of old-timer Volkswagen vans to hone their skills. Jacques Vermeire came to help with the acting workshop, Dutch singer Rolf Sanchez showed the candidates their audition for the first time to give singing and performance tips.
But the biggest surprise came at breakfast, when the candidates had a piece of Waterfall were heard, the new song of K3 on which the newest K3’tje will be heard for the first time. Their assignment for the day is immediately clear: master the song and the accompanying choreo and then perform solo for Hanne, Marthe, but also for dance coach Tommy and producer Peter Gillis. The performances yielded three golden tickets for people who can already be sure of their place in the studio shows. The Dutch Diede (20) and Dirk (23) and the Flemish Giana (19) are the lucky ones. Later – after an afternoon of cooking with children – the Flemish Justine (24) also received a ticket.

Those who still wanted to survive after this had to prove themselves by performing in front of friends and family. Five groups of three alternative K3s were formed. They each performed a song. Jemaima forgot her text for the second time because of the stress. This was also the case with her solo performance. It costs her the spot in the studio shows. Elise did better at the communal show, but was unable to convince K2 and co solo. There were too many mistakes made during Babette’s K3 performance, so she too had to leave.

They did pass in addition to the four golden tickets: Amy, Celester, Chanel, Julia, Kato, Luca, Manou and Remi. The twelve remaining candidates will start the studio shows next week. With the public and the jury present again. And then Gert Verhulst also comes to watch. That’s how you know it’s getting serious.
