In recent years, the dramas broadcast by regional channels have had as much or more prominence and emphasis than the large productions of Caracol and RCN.

In 2023 it was The Symphony of the Weird Bugs, by Teleantioquia; In 2022 it was Emma Reyes, from RTVC, and further back Déjala muerte (Telecaribe) and Débora, the woman who stripped Colombia (Teleantioquia) who left their mark on the India Catalina Awards that reward the best of national TV.

At the time they overshadowed productions such as Leandro Díaz or Arelys Henao, from RCN and Caracol, respectively.

For this 2024, beyond the refusal of private companies to be part of the awards, another public television production is the most awarded this year: the second season of Emma Reyes, from RTVC.

“40 nominations! We are happy with this enormous recognition that the Colombian audiovisual industry gives us today and that speaks of transparent and convergent work, which we carry out for a country with which we are committed from our missionality,” commented Nórida Rodríguez at the time, when she was manager of RTVC Public Media System.

Beyond the power of these stories, these dramatizations have the support of a group of widely recognized actors.

César Mora, Juan Pablo Urrego, Aida Bossa, Patricia Castañeda. Alejandra Borrero and Jacques Touckhmanian are just some of the names that have been in these miniseries, plus the presence of directors such as Kepa Amuchastegui and Luis Alberto Restrepo, among others.

The key to these dramatizations is that they make local stories and characters visible, which would rarely make it to national television.

“We are in an era in which everything is universal, that thanks to the Internet everything transcends, I think Teleantioquia realized that and by telling this story they took a step forward, just at a time when feminism is opening up to eyes to the world, betting on equality. The story is relevant for this moment, it seems to me that they scored a goal for all the channels. Débora’s life cannot remain in Antioquia, we have to take it out into the universe, the whole world has to know it,” the actress said about her presence in Débora, the woman who undressed in Colombia, which premiered in 2017.

Currently, on RTVC Play the second season of Emma Reyes is available for free, in addition to productions such as 1994, the first year, La vida es un meme, Amor sin tiempo, la mission, Locos Lab, A lo Sánchez, Pasajeros and Quibdó dances, among others.
