Emirates News Agency – Launch of the activities and activities of the “First Emirati Conference for Medical Education”

ABU DHABI, 11th February, 2020 (WAM) — The activities and events of the “First Emirati Conference for Medical Education” kicked off today in Abu Dhabi, which is organized by the National Institute for Health Specialties attached to the United Arab Emirates University.

The conference is held in cooperation with the American Higher Medical Education Accreditation Council and in strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company “SEHA” and the Dubai Health Authority.

The conference was attended by His Excellency Hussein Al-Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Institute for Health Specialties, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Ghaleb Al-Buraiki, Acting Director of the United Arab Emirates University, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Aws Al-Shamsan, Secretary General of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, and His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Al-Hawqani, Secretary-General of the National Institute of Specialties. In addition to a number of experts, specialists and officials in the health sector and representatives of a number of government agencies in the health sector and medical education, as well as the deans of the faculties of medicine and health sciences in the country.

Dr. Hussein Al-Rand stressed that the holding of this conference in Abu Dhabi for the first time is an important achievement for the UAE in the field of the health sector, as it provides an exceptional platform for decision-makers and leaders, deans and graduates of medical universities, to communicate with those with expertise specialized in the fields of medical education and to learn about the best modern practices in the field of achieving development. And the development of the health sector and the mechanism of preparation for evaluation and obtaining institutional and program accreditation for the purposes of training in various specialties, which contribute in their entirety to raising the scientific and professional level of physicians and health professionals in various health specialties.

Dr. Wadi’a Mohammed, Director of the Medical Education and Research Department at the Dubai Health Authority, explained the importance of this conference, pointing out that it provides an opportunity for medical education professionals from the public and private sectors to present best practices in the field of medical education, exchange knowledge and experiences, and guide medical education in line with the highest standards. Globalism.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Houqani said: “The issue of providing high-quality health care in accordance with the highest approved international standards is one of the six pillars of the UAE’s national agenda, as the government is making continuous efforts to enhance the well-being and health care of the UAE community, citizens and residents.”

He added, “The National Institute for Health Specialties plays an important and supportive role in government directions in developing the health sector, raising the scientific level and health professions, enhancing the quality of higher medical education and specialized training programs, and ensuring the quality of education and clinical work in the country.”

For his part, Dr. Ghanem Al-Hassani, Director of Academic Affairs at the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company “SEHA”, confirmed that “SEHA” pays great attention to promoting medical education in line with the vision of the wise leadership to put the UAE at the forefront in all fields, including medical education, which is a challenge. The present and the future in the world in light of the remarkable acceleration in development and innovation in medical education and scientific research strategies, which includes the use of technology, hybrid training programs, simulation learning methods, the use of educational robots, and the promotion of specialized and accurate programs in line with the needs of the UAE and international medical sector, as we know that medical education is the basis for providing Optimum health care for the community.

11 speakers with specialized experience participated in the conference, and it included three working sessions on clinical competence in the medical education sectors, defining the concept of reliable professional landmarks and activities, ways for members of health authorities to acquire skills in developing teaching methods in the field of medical education, and a workshop for residents. Representatives of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties reviewed its experience In formulating nursing training requirements.
