Emilie Voe Nereng was threatened with death

The winter and spring “Kompani Lauritzen” season is well underway. It was Saturday three participants who had to leave the programand next Saturday one more person must thank him.

One of those who participates in the arduous challenges in the TV 2 program is Emilie «Voe» Nereng (26). The profiled influencer chose in 2017 to withdraw completely from the limelight. And to See and Hear, she makes no secret of why.

– I had been blogging for eight years, and had a kind of midlife crisis. Well, it was probably not a midlife crisis – because I was only 21 years old after all. But in my early 20’s, I thought a lot about what I really wanted. Blogging and marketing were sort of the way I should go, she says.

Got «value crisis»

Then, however, something happened in her mindset:

– I discovered that I had other values in life that were more important to me. It was a “value crisis”, I lived a life that was no longer in line with how I wanted to live and appear.

Nereng had lived off her Instagram and blog for so long that she suddenly became unsure if she did what she did to look good on the outside – or if she did it because it was something she wanted.

– To find out, I therefore chose to delete Instagram and really myself from the internet. I needed a break.

– You had to land a little, simply?

– Yes. And at that time, I had 200,000 followers on Instagram. I even deleted my email because I did not want people to contact me. It was absolutely beautiful and I do not regret anything. Even though I do not have as many followers now as I had then, says the 26-year-old, who can still boast over 150,000 followers on the photo sharing service.

– Do not understand

It was after choosing to take a break that “Voe” decided to get an education in nutrition, and rather go that route on social media.

– Now it’s mostly about nutrition if someone starts discussing with me. And when the discussion is a matter and not a person, then I can relate to it differently. It has changed my life for the better.

That has not always been the case. Really not.

– I have never understood why I have received so much provocation. Because I experience myself as a kind and real person. At the same time, I was raised to see the best in everyone. So when people do not see the positive in me, I do not quite understand where it comes from.

– Do you still have hatred?

– Yes, I still hate. Most often on Instagram, where people express themselves with their full name and photo. Then there’s a real person there, who does not want me well.

Took to tears

The vast majority of those who speak negatively in her channels are women, according to the food influencer.

– I take it very personally, some messages made me cry just over a week ago. I have never been able to handle bullshit, there is no guide on how to do it. It may be that for many I am perceived as a perfectionist, one who seems to be concerned with being so innmari perfect. Then it’s probably a little tempting to find fault with me.

The “Kompani Lauritzen” participant believes that much of the hatred in the past came primarily as a consequence of her being one of the first bloggers on the “market”.

– My readers were people who were 13-14 years old when they followed me. Those who have not received criticism online, they do not know how it feels. I wish I had been without, because it has not shaped me for the better, she says seriously.

– So what has it done to you?

– Every time I experience this heat it takes me back to where I was when I was 14 years old. I feel vulnerable. I do not understand it, because if I had been scandalous or promoted bad values, I would have understood it better. Therefore, I also do not get to answer them or try to understand it either.

– People came to the door

– Has it happened that you have reported anything to the police?

– I was threatened with death in the comments field, I remember. “I’ll come and kill you today.” But at that time … Well, I got so much hate. I had 300-400 comments every time I posted a new blog post, and one in three was ugly. Mostly I felt hated. So it was never like I took one of them badly, it was rather the amount of it.

But worst of all, Nereng thinks:

– It was disgusting that people knew where I lived. I got ugly things in the mail and it happened that people came to my door, she says, and continues:

– Well, this was not the worst, but I remember that I was sent a McDonalds burger in the mail. It may not be badly meant, but why would anyone choose to do it, somehow? Those who came to the door were mostly nice. But the fact that people approached me, I simply thought was bullshit.

Ble paranoid

Someone must also have visited her after school.

– The worst thing was actually that some people were waiting for me outside my school bus. Sometimes to pour a bucket of water over my head. I felt like a blink that people would constantly shoot at.

– How did you experience it?

– It was of course scary, but what I remember best was that I went from being a positive, optimistic person, to being quite paranoid. I felt that people could hate me anytime and anywhere.

Own experiences and experiences are also the reason why “Voe” does not want to include friends, family and girlfriend Torgeir in his “business”.

– All I share are things I stand for. I understand very well those who have experienced – and experience – bullying, she admits.

– But now you’re back in the spotlight for good?

– Yes, I’m definitely back. And it’s completely different this time, because it’s something I have chosen as an adult. I have created a career direction and business. I feel lucky. But no, my life is not set, I can still choose to retire again later, says Emilie Nereng with a smile to See and Hear.
