Emi Martinez like a boomerang Arsenal. Arsenal let him go to Aston Villa, twice the former goalkeeper won over the Gunners in the league!

Aston Villa Arsenal have beaten twice at Premier League. First on November 8, Aston Villa won 3-0 at the Emirates, then most recently won 1-0 at home on Saturday (6/2/2021).

Arsenal were not even able to break into the Aston Villa goal which was hacked by its former goalkeeper, namely Emiliano Martinez aka Emi Martinez.

Squawka noted, Emi Martinez was able to perform nicely in two meetings against his former club, Arsenal. In total in these two matches, the Argentine goalkeeper made five saves!

In fact, Emi Martinez has managed to pack 11 clean sheets so far in the league. That makes him the second goalkeeper to keep many clean sheets this season, after Manchester City keeper Ederson with 13 clean sheets.

Emi Martinez himself was carried off Aston Villa in the transfer market last summer for 16 million pounds, or the equivalent of Rp 300 billion. The 29-year-old goalkeeper is indeed difficult to be Arsenal’s main goalkeeper.

Martinez left Argentine club academy, Independiente to join Arsenal in 2010 when he was 18 years old. He broke into the first team in 2011/2012 despite eventually being loaned to Oxford United in League Two.

In total, during his 10 years in Arsenal uniform, Emi Martinez was indeed loaned more often, up to six times to six different clubs. His total appearances for Arsenal are only 38 times, with 23 of them last season when Leno was injured.

Emiliano Martinez leaving Arsenal with a sweet, successfully won the FA Cup trophy and Community Shield. He played as a starter in these two final matches.

Now, Martinez is knitting a beautiful dream with Aston Villa. Aston Villa itself so far rooted at level nine Premier League Standings with 35 points from 21 matches. The opportunity to penetrate the top four is still open.
