Users of social networks shared screenshots of their phones with the warning text received from the province of Ontario, which reads that the alert was due to a “incident” reported from the plant, without providing more accurate information.
However, the messages ensure that “there has been no abnormal release of radioactivity from the station “and that people who are around the plant” do not need to take protective measures at this time. “
Emergency services are responding to the incident, authorities add.
An hour later, the Ontario Power Generation corporation refuted this information, alleging on your Twitter account that the alert about the plant in Pickering has been issued by mistake and that “there is no danger to the population or the environment.”
