GNR had to stop illegal parties in the Algarve and Comporta – Observador


The GNR of Faro interrupted, on Friday, two illegal parties in Lagos and Albufeira, in the Algarve, after being called to places where several dozen people were in establishments and on the street consuming alcoholic drinks, gatherings prohibited by containment measures motivated by the Covid-19 pandemic. The previous night, it was the turn of the GNR of Setúbal to interrupt an illegal party in Comporta, in the municipality of Alcácer do Sal.

According to a press release from the GNR of Faro quoted by TVI, “In the first situation, after a noise report, the military of the Guard went to the place and verified the existence of live music and dozens of people on the street and on the terrace consuming alcoholic beverages next to a beverage establishment, making it difficult to both pedestrians and vehicles ”.

“In view of these circumstances, the military proceeded to identify the owner of the establishment,” says the GNR.

At another party, GNR agents also responded to a noise report and, when they arrived at the site, “they noticed the presence of several dozen young people on the public road who, after the arrival of the GNR military, followed the order to disperse” .

The news comes a week after an illegal party in the municipality of Lagos, also in the Algarve, have given rise to a focus of coronavirus infection which was responsible for the infection of more than a hundred people.

Also this Saturday, the GNR of Setúbal had announced that it had to end a private party with about 40 people that was taking place on Thursday in Comporta, municipality of Alcácer do Sal.

As in the Algarve, GNR was alerted by a complaint and, when it arrived at the house where the party was taking place, “it was possible to verify the presence of about 40 people, with the GNR military proceeding to identify the person responsible for the event, also causing the same to cease ”.

The social isolation measures in force prevent gatherings of more than 20 people and the consumption of alcoholic beverages on the street, outside an authorized restaurant space.
