The trial between Johnny Depp (58) and ex-wife Amber Heard (36) has created tremendous engagement in social media. Especially on TikTok, the trial has received a lot of attention.
Several videos make fun of Heard’s move and appearance in court. One of the trends that has spread on the platform is videos where users lip-sync Heard’s testimony, where she claims that Depp must have torn off his clothes before he allegedly raped her.
Depp has on his side denies Heard’s charges about violence and abuse:
– No human is perfect – absolutely not – none of us. But I have never in my life committed sexual abuse, physical abuse, he emphasized in his testimony on Wednesday.
“Hash tags” on TikTok in favor of Depp are frequently used, while far fewer express support for Heard.

Heard also claimed that she had been threatened with death every day, both against her and her one-year-old child.

The coverage of the case on social media was also a topic in court in week five. Heard’s apparatus then brought in a researcher on social media, who said that since April 2020 he has registered a predominance of negative Heard records.
The heated trial has its last day on Friday. The trial has been going on for six weeks, since April 11.
The core of the dispute is a column Heard wrote in the Washington Post from 2018. Without mentioning Depp’s name, Heard writes that in 2016 she noticed “our culture’s anger towards women who speak out”. Depp has sued Heard for defamation, and she has filed a lawsuit.
Depp claims in his lawsuit that it was Heard who was violent towards him, both physical and mental. If the court finds it proven that Depp only knows one case has been guilty of violence against Heard, he will not win with the accusations of libel.
