DOHA – Indonesian National Team defender, Elkan Baggott received bad news ahead of the Indonesia vs Australia national team duel in the 2023 Asian Cup. Ipswich Town coach, Kieran McKenna, said that the 194 cm player would be loaned to another club.

Kieran McKenna, coach Ipswich Town , expressed his hope that Elkan Baggott and Cameron Burgess (Australia), his teammates who will compete in the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup, can show sportsmanship and fair play. McKenna expressed his best wishes to both of them and hoped that the match would take place in a spirit of healthy competition.

Despite providing support, McKenna also admitted that there was a possibility that Elkan Baggott and another young player, Cameron Humphreys, would be loaned to other clubs in the winter transfer window. This decision will depend on the addition of new foreign players that Ipswich Town may bring in.

“That’s a possibility,” McKenna said when asked about the possibility of the pair being loaned out.

“Maybe like we are looking for incoming transfers from other clubs, realistically it will depend on additional (players). Currently, we have 18 foreign players who are fit and available and we also have some players who are out for longer periods of time. “We have to make sure we have enough strength to be ready for the second half of the season,” he added.

However, McKenna emphasized that the final decision regarding the possible loan of Elkan Baggott and Cameron Humphreys will be made after direct discussions with the players. This decision is expected to be taken next week, allowing sufficient time for consideration and evaluation.
