In the conflict on January 9, 2018, both the man and Elena herself were injured after an argument got completely out of hand. She suspected him of being unfaithful. When he said he wanted to end the relationship, she stopped. Miraculously, the man survived the stabbing incident, in which he was treated with a kitchen knife eight inches long.

Her statement in court two weeks ago: ,,I felt powerless. Was in a panic. Decided I didn’t want to go any further. I wanted to lie on a knife. Gently so he wouldn’t call emergency services right away. That’s why I went up with a knife. I felt naive, stupid and worthless. Then I unexpectedly met him. A struggle ensued. We hit each other with the knife. Why am I only telling this after such a long time? I was ashamed that I wanted to take my own life.”
