Eleanor Reuther died at age 79 when the vehicle she was driving was struck head-on by another in Upper Freehold Township, New Jersey.

The other driver was seriously injured in the dramatic accident that occurred on Sunday around 2:50 pm A 23-year-old young man who was behind the wheel of a Jeep heading west on Route 537 crossed the double yellow line to pass the vehicles in front of him and crashed into the truck of Reuther who was heading east, said yesterday the state police (NJSP).

Reuther, a Manalpan resident, died at the scene, while the unidentified young driver of the Jeep was hospitalized with serious injuries. The accident, which took place near kilometer 34.4, remains under investigation, I report NJ.com.

In a similar case, earlier this month a 47-year-old grandmother was killed as a passenger in a head-on car accident caused by a driver fleeing from the New York State Police (NYSP), in Lewis, Essex County.

Days before, a grandfather in Queens (NYC) was killed and his wife and two grandchildren were injured when a driver hit his parked car.

New York authorities remind that there is zero tolerance for drivers who drive at excess speed and/or under the influence of alcohol and drugs..
