Toño Valencia participated in the ‘Leyendas del Norte’ match that pitted Manchester United’s flagship players from past seasons against figures of the same category from Liverpool.
The ‘Red Devils’ took the field with Toño Valencia as the starter and the Ecuadorian took a position on the right of the team, just as he did throughout his career that lasted 10 years at Manchester United.
The Ecuadorian recalled his best moments and got several cheers from the fans who were moved to see Toño again with the club shirt and showing that the magic is still intact. Valencia raised a couple of centers that reminded why he became a benchmark in one of the most important leagues in the world.
The match ended 3-1 in favor of Liverpool, but despite this, United had Toño Valencia as the protagonist and figure, just like when he defended the club’s colors. The goals of the match were scored by Luisis García twice and Mark González once for Liverpool, while the stoppage goal was scored by Dimitar Bervatov.
Toño Valencia was recently chosen as part of the list of the best South American players in the Premier League and his legacy remains intact in the memory of Manchester United fans.
