Eight residents in Noord were removed from their homes last night due to a fire

In a house on Wieringerwaardstraat in Noord, eight residents of a total of two families were rescued from their homes by the fire brigade last night.

At 03.40 a fire broke out in a box room on the ground floor, the residents were still asleep at that time. Several fire-fighting vehicles, police units and an ambulance then advanced to the house in Noord. In the meantime, a lot of smoke had formed in the stairwell, which meant that the residents had to be rescued from the back of their flat.

One girl was checked on the spot by ambulance personnel, but did not have to go to the hospital. When the fire was extinguished, the residents were able to return to their homes.

The fire started in a refrigerator on the ground floor, but the cause is still unknown.
