Aswan Governorate is witnessing intensive family planning and reproductive health campaigns for women in the centers and villages of Aswan Governorate, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Population, to support the family and provide the necessary aspects of health care for it, work to reduce population increase, make services available to all women, and work to raise rates of use of various family planning methods. .

Services are provided in fixed health units and mobile family planning vehicles in various cities and villages in Aswan with the participation of a specialized medical team, and awareness seminars are held through rural women pioneers and media officials at the centers, and all family planning methods are provided free of charge.

The family planning supervision team at the Directorate of Health Affairs in Aswan visits and follows up on the movement of methods, the beneficiaries’ registration register, the infection control policy, the beneficiaries’ forms, the work of rural pioneers, the work of women’s clubs, and the presence of brochures and posters, in addition to holding several awareness-raising media seminars on inserting an IUD during a cesarean section. , breast self-examination, the danger of early marriage, and long-acting family planning methods, which resulted in converting new and reluctant cases to use long-acting methods.

Many campaigns and convoys for family planning are also organized in the various cities and villages of Aswan Governorate, in order to educate women about the seriousness of this phenomenon to their health, and the importance of family planning for society through a small, happy family capable of being the first building block in building society economically, socially, health-wise, and culturally.

Emphasizing the importance of practicing family planning for the mother by restoring her health and vitality, taking care of her children, husband, and family, and meeting the family’s needs, then the importance of family planning for the child in terms of taking the necessary care in terms of breastfeeding, proper nutrition, education, and health.
The Health Directorate in Aswan Governorate also holds intensive courses in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments through imams and preachers to introduce the issue of family planning and reproductive health and its pivotal role to advance the individual and society and move our dear homeland towards stability, growth and prosperity under the new republic under the leadership of the President of the Republic.

Within the framework of ongoing coordination and cooperation between the population and family planning sector and the project to strengthen Egypt’s family planning program funded by the US Agency for International Development and the participation of Islamic and Christian clergy and media officials in health departments in Aswan, a workshop was held entitled Activities of Religious Leaders and Media Officials, given the importance of religious discourse in gaining Public support towards paying attention to the population issue. The workshop included family planning media officials in the directorate and departments, and an elite group of Islamic and Christian clerics, in order to hold seminars to raise awareness of the population issue, reproductive health, and family planning.

On the other hand, and in implementation of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Endowments regarding awareness of reproductive health in mosques, based on the recommendations of the meeting held between the Minister of Health and the Minister of Endowments to coordinate between the two ministries to present the opinion of religion that supports the issue of family planning and to benefit from the lessons provided in mosques to spread the concepts of reproductive health, where Dr. Asmaa Bastawi, Director of Family Planning at the Health Directorate in Aswan, held a public meeting on the importance of birth spacing, family planning, and responding to medical questions. The meeting was attended by many local leaders.

Within the framework of implementing the recommendations of the National Project for Egyptian Family Development, as well as the interest of the population and family planning sector to provide services, many family planning convoys were directed to deprived areas in Aswan.

Dr. Hanan Anwar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Aswan, also participated in the meeting on opening new outlets to expand the provision of postpartum family planning services in private sector hospitals, especially IUD insertion during cesarean sections. This was in the presence of Dr. Hala Abdel Moati, Director General of the General Administration of Family Planning Services in the Private Sector. And Dr. Hamed Makki, head of the Aswan Medical Syndicate, in the presence of the Director of Family Planning in the Health Directorate in Aswan, the Director of the Free Therapy Department in the Directorate, the Director of the Therapeutic Medicine Department and an elite group of obstetricians and gynecologists in Aswan Governorate.

This comes within the framework of the Egyptian Family Development Plan and the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, on the importance of activating the role of the private sector in solving the population problem, and coordination between the population and family planning sector and the central administration of non-governmental treatment institutions and licensing with the aim of increasing the demand for family planning and reproductive health services.

It is worth noting that the population increase is one of the most dangerous issues that affect the national product and is reflected in the size of the national projects that take place on the ground. This is why the Population Strategy 2030, which was developed by the government to deal with this issue, initiated the importance of family planning and the availability of services in all hospitals across the republic.

The Ministry of Health and Population announced the launch of 770 reproductive health and family planning convoys in all governorates of the Republic, as part of the National Population Strategy and within the framework of implementing the National Plan for the Family Development Project, during the period from January 20, 2024 until the end of March of this year.
