Egyptian Football Association Suspends Cleopatra Ceramica Captain and Coaches for Unsportsmanlike Behavior in Egyptian Super Cup

The Egyptian Football Association announced that the Competitions Committee decided to suspend Cleopatra Ceramica captain, Mohamed Ibrahim, for four matches, after he was sent off against Al-Ahly in the semi-finals of the Egyptian Super Cup held in the Emirates, for his strong protest against the referee.

Ibrahim objected inappropriately to referee Mohamed Maarouf, and was expelled in the last breath of the match. The Competitions Committee also imposed a number of penalties, including a fine of 20,000 pounds on Ibrahim for expelling him due to “unsportsmanlike behavior,” due to his behavior towards the referee.

The committee decided to impose a fine of 25 thousand pounds on the Ceramica Club due to the collective objection initiated by the technical and administrative staff.

Future’s coach, Ricardo Foromosinho, was fined 20,000 pounds, to be paid to the federation’s treasury within two weeks, for not adhering to the protocol during the press conference and speaking on the phone with Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho. Jaime Pacheco was also fined 20,000 pounds for his behavior toward one of the media.

Future qualified for the Super Cup final after defeating Pyramids on penalties, and Al-Ahly also qualified by defeating Ceramica 1-0.
