Egyptian Authorities Suspend Heavy Transport Vehicles After Fatal Accident

Egyptian security and medical sources reported that 25 people were killed and 23 others were injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a transport truck in the New Valley Governorate.

After the accident, the Egyptian authorities decided to stop the movement of heavy transport vehicles on the Dakhla/Kharga/Assiut road, from 8 pm to 7 am, starting today, Thursday, following the terrible accident in the governorate.

Preliminary investigations into the accident, which took place on the Kharga-Assiut road heading to Cairo, revealed that the bus belonging to a tourist transport company collided with a heavy truck trailer and overturned. The accident occurred in the Kharga Police Department. Citizens flocked to offer aid and donate blood for the injured in the terrible accident.

17 ambulances were dispatched to transport the deceased and the injured from the accident site and transfer them to hospitals. The governor, Major General Dr. Muhammad Al-Zamlot, directed the provision of all necessary support and care and the speedy completion of procedures for handing over the bodies of the deceased to their families.

During the statement, the New Valley Governorate appealed to the masses of citizens to go to donate blood for the account of the injured in the accident, amid a state of great sadness among all the people of the governorate regarding the terrible accident.

And the Governor of the New Valley decided to stop the movement of heavy transport vehicles on the Dakhla / Kharga / Assiut road, from 8 pm to 7 am, starting today, Thursday, in order to preserve the lives of citizens, due to the recurrence of road accidents resulting from the recklessness of some drivers of heavy transport vehicles.
