Effetto Venezia 2023: A Sensory Journey into the World of Cinema

Livorno, 8 August 2023 – With over 100,000 visitorsthe main event of the Livorno summer closed with a bang on Sunday ‘Venice effect’.

All satisfied: from the mayor Luca Salvetti, to the Lem Foundation up to artistic director Marco Bruciati which declined the 2023 edition of this kermesse in a cinematic key.

Just Bruciati takes stock of the work done and the ‘mission’ that he had set himself: “Bring back to ‘Effetto Venezia’ those who had left it out of disaffection, out of little interest”.

Bruciati writes: “After six months of preparatory work and five days of frenetic joy, I have to thank all those who trusted me in supporting that somewhat crazy idea that ‘Effetto Venezia’ could become a real little one sensory journey into the world of cinema. Issues related to numbers, however crucial they may be in defining the success of any public event, have never fascinated me. We know that attendance at ‘Effetto Venezia’ is very high and this edition was no exception. The goal that I had set for myself was, however, that of bringing people back to ‘Effetto Venezia’ for several days who had lost the habit of frequenting it, trying to give them a new life”.

“We have built a difference compared to other years – continues Bruciati -, it is precisely this, that is to unite the canonical public with the more demanding one, creating a melting pot in which the popularity of the event is combined with an artistic choice in some cases courageous and only apparently sectoral. The theme of cinemaart par excellence in uniting the various social spheres, has certainly helped to complete the goal we set ourselves by demonstrating how it is possible to raise the bar in the growth of an important cultural event like this”.

He underlines then adds: “As in all complex things, there have been more critical moments and I apologize to all those who have experienced small big problems in various fields. And I thank the mayor and councilors for their trust and the extraordinary work team of the Lem foundation for supporting me relentlessly. The Municipality, all the supply and service services that have built this path together with us”.

The artistic director concludes: “I thank the dozens of local and non-local artists who accepted the challenge by adapting to the chosen theme. And I thank the people who have shown me sincere certificates of esteem”.
