Many people think that you pee out an excess of vitamins, but that does not apply to vitamin D. Your body stores the vitamin D. And if you get too much vitamin D for a long time, you can suffer from it.
Vitamin D from food
“Go outside for some vitamin D.” Many people know that your body produces vitamin D with the help of the sun, but you also get it from your diet. A lot of vitamin D can be found in fish oil, eggs and avocado. Vitamin D is added to low-fat margarine, margarine and various baking and roasting products in the Netherlands. Yet there are people who do not get enough vitamin D from their diet: the elderly, people with dark skin and young children can sometimes use an extra vitamin boost. Too much vitamin D
An excess of vitamin D is not common and fortunately you don’t get it from the sun, but only from too many supplements. For an adult woman, 10 to 20 micrograms (µg) of vitamin D is enough per day. An excess occurs if you consume more than 100 micrograms of vitamin D per day for a longer period of time.
Symptoms
Several things can happen in your body if you take in too much vitamin D. You can suffer from kidney stones, calcium deposits around organs and even damage to your heart. Other symptoms of too much vitamin D include:
Nausea Vomiting Loss of appetite Drowsiness or tiredness Fever Chills Weight loss
