Edwin Spee about criticism of new love: ‘Much too late for Bibian’

Edwin is happy in love again, he announced that in September. The ex of snowboard star Bibian Mentel, who died in March, already said at the time that he thought Bibian had sent this new woman.

“In addition to the thousands of congratulations, there are of course also a number of people who think it is too early for Bibian Mentel’s husband to be in love again,” Edwin now writes in his column. “Perhaps too early for these people, but probably much too late for Bibian.”

According to Edwin, Bibian wanted him and their family to move on. “Nothing would make her happier than knowing that there is room for a smile in addition to tears.”

In his column Edwin also writes that the role of the new partner, Mandy in this case, should not be underestimated. According to him, Mandy has perhaps the most important and heaviest role. How much love must you be able to give to give your heart to someone who is still grieving for another love. How big must your heart be to hear continuously how wonderful the deceased partner was and when, surrounded by photos and memories, you can continue to love right through the sadness.’
