The secretary of Education, Eligio Hernández Pérez, defended its position today before the Court ruling on opening school canteens, by ensuring that the Department is complying with the provisions.
Meanwhile, he announced that the agency is in the process of opening 200 additional dining rooms.
“We have announced the opening of 200 additional dining rooms and the staff is currently on the waiting list to test the COVID-19”, Expressed in a video on the social network Twitter.
He assured that after the judgment of May 22, to date they had 105 dining rooms open and as a result of it they have exceeded the number of 150 dining rooms.
He also mentioned other initiatives such as independent dining rooms and federal food delivery programs.
Through two federal programs it has 330 independent soup kitchens operating.
On May 22, 85,300 foods were being produced, and 103,937 services were produced yesterday.

The secretary’s reaction comes after the Court granted him 24 hours for Education to justify why it is not in contempt of the order issued on May 22 for them to be opened “All the school canteens that are necessary” to attend to the population “in need” due to the pandemic of the Covid-19.
The order to show cause indicates that on May 29 the appeals court rejected the motion in aid of jurisdiction presented by Education to paralyze the effect of the sentence issued by Cuevas on May 22.
