Edson Álvarez could see his position changed in this cycle of Mexico with Jaime Lozano at the helm, at least that is what he has shown in training, endorsing what happened in the Gold Cup.
The training sessions at the High Performance Center in Lozano’s first official call as head of TRI have revealed some of the coach’s intentions in terms of new tactics and experiments.
In the midst of an atmosphere of optimism within the team, one of the leading players who has taken the Premier League by the horns will not be used in his natural position. Edson has been a pleasant surprise at West Ham, but for the new Tricolor manager’s style of play, he seems to have no place as a midfielder, but as a centre-back.
According to information from Claro Sports, Johan Vásquez and Edson Álvarez will be the duo in the central defense, leaving Álvarez in the position where the team worked best during the Gold Cup in which they were crowned.
Other doubts are the ownership of Héctor Herrera who returns after a prolonged absence, as well as the forwards, since it is not yet known if Raúl Jiménez or Santiago Giménez will be the leader of the attack.
