Edition Thionville – Hayange | School will not reopen this Monday, May 11

In Puttelange-lès-Thionville, deconfinement does not rhyme with resumption of education. Judging that the sanitary conditions do not present all the guarantees, municipality, teachers and APE opposed the reopening of the schools this Monday, May 11. Consulted by survey, parents of students also, and for the most part, oppose this reopening which they consider premature. This Monday, the number of schoolchildren would be limited to 14 children, divided into four classes in municipal schools. By way of arguments, they invoke the health situation in the Grand-Est (mapped in red), the times for the implementation of the ministerial protocol, deemed incompatible with the date of May 11, the after-school center of Catt’mômes, maintained closed beyond May 11.

Joseph Ghamo, mayor of the town, believes that “the health security of children and staff, which is a priority, is not guaranteed, the deadlines for implementing the instructions are too fair”.

“The correspondence courses are going rather well, according to Fabienne Jaud, the director of the school group, revealing a good quality of current teaching. Conversely, combining distance courses with classroom instruction, weighed down by all these protocol constraints, would depreciate the maintenance of the quality of teaching. In addition, we are still waiting for disinfectants and sanitary products ordered by the municipality. We will only reopen when all the conditions required for maximum protection of children, teachers and service staff are met. “

In the meantime, Joseph Bauer, deputy mayor responsible for the works, and the municipal staff took care of the preparations. A new meeting will take place on Tuesday May 19, at 7 p.m., at the town hall.
