Edition Thionville – Hayange | A petition to generalize telework in Luxembourg

Telework as an alternative to traffic jams, air pollution, stress and fatigue caused by transport, all this is not new in the cross-border debate. But since March 16, which marks the beginning of the containment of the population on both sides of the Franco-Luxembourg border, remote work by forced march has become obvious. And, surprise, it works pretty well. “My husband and I had never teleworked before. In two days, all our tools were transferred to the house, ”says Emmanuelle Remy, social worker in Luxembourg.

Public petition

On April 28, with her husband, Serge, an employee of the banking sector, she introduced a public petition the purpose of which is to establish a right to telework in the Labor Code. “We want telework to be registered as a right for the employee whose mission is compatible and not just at the discretion of the bosses. This petition has already collected 2,970 signatures. 4,500 are needed for the subject to be debated in the Chamber of Deputies. “We all have something to gain from it, if only a better work-life balance,” continues the petitioner, convinced that there will be a before and after confinement.
