Quito: 10 inmates were killed in a prison riot in Ecuador. The incident took place on Friday in a prison in the capital Quito. The riots reportedly erupted after authorities moved to transfer the three ringleaders from prison to another security facility.
Earlier, the police had decided to transfer prisoners who had conspired to create a tumultuous atmosphere in the prison. Then there would be a verbal dispute between the gangsters and it would lead to a riot.
Since February 2021, 400 inmates have been killed in eight massacres in Ecuadorian prisons. Five inmates were killed in a riot at Quito prison on 8 November.
