East Java Kemenkumham anticipates fogging of dengue in rooms at WBP prison and detention centre

The tarnishing was carried out in the residential rooms of Surabaya Class I Prison in Porong.

Surabaya, Bhirawa

As we enter the rainy season, the trend of dengue fever (DHF) cases is on the rise. So that the East Java Kemenkumham Regional Office carried out fogging in the residential rooms of the residents of prisons and detention centers. This is the focus of the East Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights for Correctional Inmate Facilities (WBP).

The tarnishing was carried out on one of them in Surabaya Class I Prison in Porong on Wednesday (7/12). Every residential block of assisted residents of Lapas has not been spared from the mist sprays carried out by the officers. Fumigation or fogging was also done in residential rooms where previously inmates were asked to leave the room temporarily.

“We have ordered all prisons and detention centers to mitigate the disease trend that arises during the rainy season. Among them, such as DHF, diarrhoea, flu and Covid-19, we need to remain vigilant,” said Anak Agung Gde Krisna, acting head of East Java Kemenkumham regional office.

According to Agung, there are several things that can be done to maintain the health of detainees. How to distribute vitamins, play sports and gymnastics together. Apart from that, they also perform community services by cleaning the residential environment in prisons and detention centers.

“Fogging is one of the strategies for prisons with large areas. Because so far it has been quite difficult to control the number of mosquitoes, such as Surabaya Class I Prison in Porong,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the head of the Surabaya Lapas (Kalapas), Jalu Yuswa Panjang, added that tarnishing or tarnishing has been carried out in all parts of the prison which is located in Kebon Agung village. Ranging from work rooms, official residences, workshops, plantations and inmate residential rooms, the officers did not escape the tarnish.

“For residential rooms, we prioritize them, especially those near spots that have the potential to become breeding grounds for mosquitoes,” she added.

To speed up the tarnishing process, Jalu continued, the detainees were removed from their residential rooms. They were gathered in the field in the prison. “Suddenly they move to stretch and bask in the sun,” Jalu said.

Meanwhile, Mojokerto (Kadinkes) district health bureau chief Ulum Rokhmat Rokhmawan said his party fully supports the efforts of the Surabaya Lapas in anticipating efforts to suppress the occurrence of dengue cases. He explained that there is an increasing trend of dengue cases each rainy season.

The fogging business, Ulum continued, prompted as many as 10 members of the Mojokerto District Health Bureau. “With this fog, hopefully there won’t be a case of dengue fever in Surabaya prison,” he concluded. [Bed.gat]
