Type 2 diabetes can affect a person’s energy levels and make them feel fatigued. Diabetes fatigue is caused by insufficient transport of sugar from the bloodstream into the cells of the body.
5. Blurry vision
Excessive blood sugar can damage the tiny blood vessels in the eye, which can lead to blurred vision, and this can happen in one or both eyes.
High blood sugar levels can also lead to swelling of the lens of the eye. This can cause blurred vision, but it will improve when blood sugar levels come down.
6. Slow wound healing
High blood sugar levels can damage the body’s nerves and blood vessels, which can impair blood circulation. As a result, small wounds and cuts take weeks or months to heal. Slow wound healing also increases the risk of infection.
7. Tingling, numbness, or pain in the hands or feet
High blood sugar levels can affect circulation and nerve damage, and for people with type 2 diabetes, this can lead to pain, tingling or numbness in the hands and feet.
8. Dark spots
Dark spots that form on the creases of the neck, armpits, or groin can also result from diabetes, a condition known as acanthosis nigricans.
