Dynamos Hosiner in SpiO-Talk: “I’m the last-minute guy”

Philipp Hosiner’s season is symbolic of that of SG Dynamo Dresden: First the engine stuttered, then the knot burst and since then it has been working with goals and points. The Christmas champion in the 3rd division wants to crown his strong six months on Tuesday (8:45 p.m. in the ticker at sport-im-osten.de and in the SpiO app) against second division Darmstadt 98.

Hosiner: “We haven’t achieved anything yet”

And right in the middle is Philipp Hosiner. The 31-year-old has been storming for the black and yellow since this season, has scored six goals himself and played four. “We can be very satisfied so far, but we know that we haven’t achieved anything yet,” said the Austrian, who was under contract with Chemnitzer FC last season, in Sport-im-Osten-Talk on Monday.

Before the short Christmas break, the cup fight is waiting. Hosiner speaks of “extreme anticipation”. Cup games are a highlight for every footballer and you can see the euphoria the game against Hamburg sparked. “Now we want to finish the good championship round”, he formulates the goal clearly.

Even Ronaldo doesn’t always score …

If there were penalties on Tuesday, he would be ready. Hosiner is perhaps the safest dynamo kicker on the point. “I put the ball down and know that I’m going to sink it. Then it usually turns out that way,” he says of his recipe for success.

But sometimes things go wrong with a super shooter too. Last season, while still in the service of Chemnitzer FC, Hosiner missed an important duel against 1. FC Kaiserlautern. The Austrian, who by then had safely converted all seven penalties, slipped away during the run-up. The ball flew well over the box, Chemnitz lost 2-0 and was later relegated. Hosiner ticked it off long ago and countered: “Nobody has a 100 percent quota, even Messi and Ronaldo don’t hit every penalty.”

I put the ball down and I know I’ll sink it. Then it usually happens that way.

The final spurt for Christmas presents

Hosiner would sign a move on after penalties, but would not mind a decision after 90 minutes. After the game, the striker and Dresden will have a short Christmas break. It is still unclear whether he can spend this at home in Burgenland, Austria. “If I get the green light from the health authorities, I’ll go to my family,” he said. Incidentally, the professional not only has to accelerate on the field, but also with gifts. “I’m more of the last-minute guy,” he laughs. After all, he already has the ideas in his head.
