“Dutchman rented servers in German cyber bunker to right-wing extremists” | NOW

The Dutch administrator of a bunker with servers also had the far-right Identitaire Beweging as a customer, weekly magazine reports Der Spiegel and the TV show Panorama of the German public broadcaster NDR. The organization, with various branches in Europe, advocates the preservation of a so-called ‘national identity’.

In September, seven suspects, including four Dutch, arrested because of their involvement in the so-called ‘cyber bunker’. The suspects would rent server space from the bunker. The large online drug marketplace Wall Street Market was hosted there.

Der Spiegel writes that an employee of the cyber bunker approached the Identitaire Beweging to rent out server space. According to the magazine, the internationally branched organization paid 30 euros per month for this, while the costs for other customers for the same space amounted to hundreds of euros.

The bunker in question is located in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. According to the German authorities Dutch prime suspect Herman X. managed the bunker in 2013, after which the servers were rented out.

Those involved are suspected of facilitating and promoting the criminal activities that took place with or through the servers. In a response to Panorama and Der Spiegel X says that he is not responsible for what others do with the server room and that he did not break the law.
