Dutch special forces jump to your d …

Getting from the ground to the roof. Or from the quay to the deck of a passing boat. It no longer seems a problem for the special forces. With a flying suit with jet engines, no obstacle is too much for them anymore.

The Marine Corps has recently been working on a futuristic experiment. The Gravity Fly Suit has been tested in collaboration with the MIND innovation center.

With such a flight suit, a person can move through the air in a harness with jet engines. The suit has been tested in various situations, for example when boarding ships. It has also been tested in a built environment. And all tests passed with flying colors.

According to Major Mark Haasdijk “there are engines on the back and the arms. The ‘pilot’ can control the speed and altitude with a throttle in hand. By moving your body and your arms, you generate upward pressure. It’s a matter of finding balance in the air. It was easier than you might think, ”he says.

The risks of the revolutionary suit have been discussed with security officials beforehand. During the test, the flight was mainly low, says Haasdijk. “The body is of course fragile, although there is always a risk of military operations. The time that you fly really high is very limited. ”

The marines are already enthusiastic. An evaluation will now follow to see if it is useful enough for military operation. Because it is not cheap. Defense in the Netherlands does not release a price, but the producer’s website speaks of prices of up to 300,000 euros. Another disadvantage is that the Marine is very vulnerable when flying through the air. Because since he needs his hands to steer, he can now wield a weapon.
