Dutch industry produced 9.2 percent less than a year earlier. Industrial companies have contracted for five months in a row.
Compared to the previous month, Dutch industry produced more. Production fell by more than 12 percent in April, Statistics Netherlands reports. That was the biggest drop since April 2009.
The chemical industry showed the largest drop in production. This is mainly due to inflation. Due to the high costs, there is less demand for products.
According to Statistics Netherlands, production was not lower in all branches of industry. Companies that focus on the repair and installation of machines actually produced more than a year ago.
