Seven Dutch men and a Dutch woman were arrested on Wednesday due to a series of devastating bombings in Germany. The loot and damage amounts to more than 5.5 million euros.

This is a major action by the German and Dutch police. Seven men and a woman from the Netherlands were arrested during the action. The leader of the gang may also be among those arrested. In addition, ten others are in the custody of the justice system.

Justice and police in Osnabrück, Germany, announced the major action on Thursday. The eight suspects are currently in custody in the Netherlands. The men are aged between 19 and 27. They come from Alkmaar, Amstelveen, Amsterdam, Haarlem, Heerhugowaard and Rotterdam.

The female suspect is a 23-year-old from Haarlem. She is suspected of laundering the loot.

The gang is held responsible for at least 23 bombings in Germany. The first took place in August 2021 in Osnabrück. The most recent bombing was in Duisburg last January.

More than 5.5 million euros in damage due to explosions

The damage amounts to more than 5.5 million euros. This not only concerns the loot, but also the destruction of buildings. German justice does not rule out that the gang is responsible for the explosions.

The police searched about 26 buildings, including 22 in the province of North Holland. Several homes in Amstelveen were evacuated on Wednesday after the discovery of explosives in an apartment.

During the searches, the police found around 100,000 euros in cash, sometimes with traces of paint still on it. Some ATMs have paint to make captured money worthless and unusable.

The police have also searched four car rental companies in Germany. These companies themselves are not suspected of involvement, but are said to have been used to rent getaway cars.

Germany has been struggling with explosive attacks by the Dutch for years. They use explosives to get into and out of ATMs. They then flee in sports cars. To avoid the hands of the police, they race on public roads at speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour, according to German authorities.
