Dutch exports shrank by 9 percent in the first six months

Dutch exports have shrunk sharply due to the corona crisis. In the first half of this year, the Netherlands exported 23 billion euros less in goods abroad. That is a decrease of 9 percent compared to the first half of 2019.

In the first three months of this year, exports were almost the same as last year, but in the three months that followed, exports fell by 17 percent, says the Central Bureau of Statistics.

Of the important export countries, exports of Dutch manufactured products to the United Kingdom fell the most, by 23 percent. In particular, less oil and gas was exported to the British. Exports to the main trading partner, Germany, fell by 12 percent. More was exported to China, 18 percent.
