Dutch Actor Thijs Römer Sentenced to Prison for Online Sexual Offences – Latest Updates

His grandfather reckoned that if Inspector De Cock is many a murderer in Baantjer, grandson Thijs Römer will soon be in prison for a month.

The well-known Dutch actor Thijs Römer will no longer appeal in the case involving several online sexual offenses involving underage girls. There was already a ruling in the file last August. Römer, who acted with Wendy Van Dijk in the series Moordvrouw, was given a prison sentence of three months, of which two months were conditional. The court also imposed the maximum community service sentence of 240 hours on him.

The actor must also seek treatment at a mental health institution. The judge found it proven that Römer committed criminal sexual misconduct between 2015 and 2017. He seduced three girls online, then aged between 14 and 16, into committing lewd acts on themselves and sending nude photos.

The actor now puts on the sackcloth. “I realize that the events had a major impact on the victims. There is only one person responsible for what happened, and that is me. “I was not able to properly express this insight during last summer’s hearing,” he said. “I can now only prove the sincerity and value of this realization by accepting the court’s sentence and therefore not continuing with my appeal. I hope this will bring peace to the lives of everyone involved.”

The actor’s victims react with relief because the case has finally been closed. Things look bad for Römer. Since the case came to the press, he no longer has any prospects of employment.
