According to director-administrator Joris Bouwmeister, the Vierdaagsefeesten are not aiming for visitor records either. The seven holidays must above all remain accessible and pleasant. In particular, last Saturday and last Friday it was too busy in the city center and the police had to label certain party locations as ‘full’. There were 42 stages and 103 terraces in the city.

Urine was collected during the Vierdaagsefeesten. Fertilizer is made from this. There was a pilot project in a special toilet car in which urine was processed into clean drinking water and fertilisers. There, 23,100 liters of urine have been turned into 22,050 liters of clean drinking water and 183 kilos of fertilizers. The accompanying scientists speak of a success. At the Vierdaagsefeesten, one of the largest festivals in Europe, trials are often conducted that, if successful, are rolled out nationally.
