Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini held an audience with the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) of East Java and Surabaya on Monday (6/29/2020), in the courtyard of the Surabaya City Hall.
At that time, Risma listened to the complaints of the doctors on duty at the Surabaya referral hospital to deal with COVID-19. Various things that were the problem were conveyed at the time.
One of the doctors who was also the Chairperson of the Emerging and Remerging Infection Disease Team (Pinere) Dr. Soetomo Hospital, Dr. Sudarsono also expressed his complaints.
Dr. Sudarsono said that Dr. Soetomo Regional Hospital in Surabaya had overload, is no longer sufficient to accommodate patients with COVID-19. Many patients who suffer from the corona virus eventually can not be treated.
Hearing this, Risma suddenly drew closer to Dr. Sudarsono and prostrated. The mayor, who was then wearing black and white clothes, hugged the doctor’s feet.
The people present at the moment immediately calmed her down. The Mayor of Surabaya then stood back in his chair while sobbing, unable to hold back tears.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Sudarsono, I am an idiot, I don’t deserve to be the Mayor of Surabaya,” said Risma, quoted from CNN Indonesia, Monday (6/29/2020).

Risma later revealed that all this time it was difficult to establish communication with management and doctors at the hospital owned by the East Java Provincial Government. PPE that was sent there was even rejected.
“We don’t accept it because we can’t get in there [RSUD dr Soetomo untuk berkomunikasi], “said Risma.
Even so, the COVID-19 Surabaya Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling has also worked hard to treat corona patients. Patients who are not from Surabaya are still being treated.
Risma then apologized to the doctors for an uncontrollable situation. Then he returned to face Sudarsono.
Related hospitals already overload, Dr. Sudarsono revealed that so far there were patients corona recovered discharged. But more people came, to the point that they had to be rejected.
“A few patients at Dr. Soetomo Hospital came out, entered a lot. Because the overload had to be refused. When the patient cried was rejected I cried in poly. What more when two of my friends died (exposed to the corona virus) this kind of community (still swarming). Dr. Sudarsono regretted that many Surabaya residents were not compliant with health protocols, so the corona virus continued to spread.
He also wanted to convey this complaint to the Head of the Surabaya Health Service (Dinkes). This doctor wanted the Health Office staff to feel the weight of using PPE as did the medical staff. Even though they are tired, opening APD must be extra careful because it is still dangerous.
“I want to meet the staff Mrs. Feny (Kadinkes) how it feels to issue it. When we are tired it will be very dangerous. The upstream is already very good, in that area I go home half past 10 (night) there are still young coffee shops,” he said .
