Due to Covid-19, one player has left the “French Open” – Tennis – Apollo.lv – Sports

The organizers of the tournament say that the coach of the particular player, while in the territory of the French Open Championship, has been diagnosed with Covid-19, therefore the tennis player has withdrawn his participation from the competition.

The unnamed player had to leave the first duel in the tournament on Wednesday, the last day of September.

Since September 17, the French Tennis Federation has conducted 1,900 Covid-19 tests for tournament participants.

It has already been reported that the first women’s tennis racket in Latvia, Alona Ostapenko, convincingly overcame the first round of the French Open Championship on Tuesday.

Ostapenko, who is ranked 43rd in the WTA, defeated American Madison Brengl (WTA 77) in the first round with a score of 6-2, 6-1.

In the second round, Ostapenko will meet with the second number of the tournament and fourth place owner Karolina Plīškov from the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, Latvia’s second racket Anastasija Sevastova “French Open” does not start, but Ernests Gulbis did not overcome the first round of qualification.

The Roland Garros tournament was due to take place this year from May 25 to June 7, but in mid-March it was moved to autumn and is the last Grand Slam of the season.
