Dubai Cares launches the “Meal” initiative. Power supply. education”

Dubai (Etihad)

Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s global initiatives, and award-winning author Flavel Montero have launched the “Meal. Power supply. Taaleem ”with the aim of collecting donations to support the education of disadvantaged children around the world, in conjunction with World Food Day, which the world celebrates on 16 October each year.
The initiative, which runs until December 31, 2022, seeks to provide a platform for diners across the UAE to transform their passion for food into an opportunity to empower disadvantaged children, giving them the opportunity to get adequate education by supporting Cares’ Dubai School Feeding Programs.

The unique initiative includes 7 signature dishes named after the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, prepared by renowned chefs from 7 restaurants across Dubai.
Food lovers from all over the country can support the “Meal. Power supply. Education ”by visiting participating restaurants and ordering a dish specially prepared for this initiative, provided that the proceeds from the initiative will go to support Dubai Cares’ school feeding programs.
It is worth noting that lack of access to nutritious school meals negatively impacts the future of millions of the world’s poorest children.
School feeding programs help incentivize the return to school of the most disadvantaged children, as they help improve school enrollment and retention, reduce economic burdens for families, improve children’s nutrition levels in malnourished countries and stunted and to support the local economy.

Abdullah Ahmed Al Shehhi, Chief Operating Officer, Dubai Cares, said: “The UAE community has a long history of coming together to support global causes and Dubai Cares is proud to launch the“ Meal. Power supply. Taaleem “on the occasion of World Nutrition Day in collaboration with Flavel Editor and seven participating restaurants. This initiative remembers the challenges related to hunger and food security that continue to cast a shadow over many countries and prevent children from receiving an education , and by joining this initiative, diners will contribute to the advancement of Dubai Cares’ school feeding programs, which is one of the most effective ways to ensure that children can attend school and lead a life of equal opportunity.
Flavel Montero said: The restaurant sector in the UAE is increasingly becoming a “force for good” by supporting social causes that have a far-reaching impact and by providing the “Meal” initiative. Power supply. Taaleem offers restaurants and customers across the country the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children for whom school meals are the only way to attend classes and stay in school.
Dubai Cares’ portfolio of school health and nutrition programs covers over 11 countries in Africa and Southeast Asia and to date Dubai Cares has provided meals to 509,295 school-age children.
