Drug Seizures in Agder 2023: Statistics and Trends

AGDER: By far the most seizures were made of hashish, where the number last year was 458, followed by benzo-diazepines, which was 279, as well as 250 seizures of amphetamine or methamphetamine.

In total, there are 1,036 drug seizures in Agder in 2023, which is just below the average for the rest of the country, which was 1,252.

This is shown by recent drug statistics from Kripos.

The year before, in 2022, there were 950 seizures in Agder. The national average was then 1,171 cases.

Several cases in the rest of the country

Kripos’ drug statistics are total national statistics that contain both customs and police seizures. In 2023, 16,287 cases have been registered.

After a decreasing trend from 2014 to 2022, there are 7% more cases in 2023 than the previous year. In 2022, a total of 15,222 cases were registered.

If you look at the amount of drugs distributed by police district, 53.9 kilograms of hashish, 2.8 kilograms of marijuana, approx. 1.43 kilos of cocaine and 0.275 kilos of heroin in Agder in 2023.

Decrease from 2022

This is a clear decrease from the previous year (2022).

A total of 313.1 kilograms of hashish, 8.8 kilograms of marijuana, 5.16 kilograms of cocaine and 18 kilograms of heroin were seized.

In Agder, this means a percentage decrease of:

  • Hash: 82.8 percent

  • Marijuana: 68.2 percent

  • Cocaine: 72.2 percent

  • Heroin: 98.5 percent

In addition, seizures of MDMA, GHB/GBL and anabolic steroids have also been registered.

The trend, on the other hand, is clearly increasing in the seizure of benzo-diazepines in Agder.

In 2023, 118,588 tablets were seized, compared to 18,259 the previous year (2022).

This is a percentage increase of 549.5 per cent from 2022.

Kripos’ drug statistics are total national statistics that contain both customs and police seizures.

In 2023, 16,287 cases have been registered throughout the country.

After a declining trend from 2014 to 2022, there are seven per cent more cases in 2023 than the previous year.

In the press release, Kripos writes that large quantities of drugs have been seized.

This particularly applies to cocaine, where the four largest cocaine seizures in Norwegian history were registered during the year.

The number of cocaine seizures also continues to increase, and cocaine makes up an increasingly large proportion of drug cases. The degree of strength is high, and there are small differences in degree of strength in small and large fittings.
