A vaccine against the coronavirus is being searched feverishly around the world. A hopeful study comes from China. The easiest way possible was chosen there.
In the western world, the vaccine against the coronavirus is searched using state-of-the-art methods. Initial studies on tolerance have already been approved in Germany, among others. In China, however, the researchers are already further ahead: Sinovac Biotech is already testing the effectiveness of the potential vaccine there. And it looks good.

Christian Drosten, virologist at the Charité and one of the most important German experts in the corona crisis, “amazes” that this vaccine is ready. in the NDR podcast “Coronavirus Update” the scientist said: “A dead vaccine is the easiest thing to do if you want a vaccine.” However, science has had bad experiences with it in the past. There is great concern that the disease will be exacerbated by the dose, that is, by an overreaction to the vaccine.
Drosten then explains exactly what a dead vaccine is: It is a vaccine that kills virus cells and converts them into a preparation with an additive. That means: Basically, the virus itself is used to create an antidote. Sounds easy, and it is, according to Drosten. An example of this is the tetanus vaccination.
Rhesus monkeys have been successfully vaccinated
For the Chinese study, it was therefore first tested on rodents, then rather quickly on rhesus monkeys. They received the vaccine and were then infected with a large amount of the pathogen, “more than humans would ever get,” said Drosten. The researchers call this “stress infection”. The result: the vaccination seems to work, enough antibodies have been produced to defeat the virus. People should also be tested.
