Drôme rugby player Jonathan Best retires and returns to Romans-sur-Isère

After 16 years of professional rugby career he puts “easily 10 minutes” to get up in the morning so much his body is tired, worn out by the games with the FCG (Grenoble, from 2005 to 2016) then the AS Béziers (from 2017 to today): the Drômois Jonathan Best has decided to put an end to to his career. The third line (sometimes second line) native of Romans-sur-Isère returns to his hometown, returns to amateur rugby, with the RCRP (Rugby Club Romanais Péageois). He will end the season in Béziers, in the second division, before coming to play in his hometown, where he touched the oval ball for the first time, at US Romans-Péage.

Long career and back to basics

After his early career at Romans, Jonathan Best has long worn the red and blue FC Grenoble jersey. He played there from the youth categories and experienced the ascent of the club from Fédérale Une to top 14. He will leave in 2016 for Pro D2 with AS Béziers. He has totaled more than 300 career games, a good part of which (240) in the second division. He also played 71 Top 14 and 6 European Challenge matches, according to its Rugby website statistics. He has scored nine tries throughout his career.
