Driver found after major search operation – NRK Trøndelag

The driver, a man in his 30s, was found a little before 9 pm on Friday. By then, the police had launched a major rescue operation.

– We have searched the area for the person, because we feared that he was injured and was in the terrain. He himself came out of the forest and onto the main road, says task leader Mattis Hamborg at Trøndelag police district.

The man was picked up along the road by someone who was with him and took off. There is a suspicion of drink-driving, the police say.

The descent took place at Vatngårdsvatnet on Stadsbygda on Fosen.

Major material damage

There is major damage to the front of the car after the descent. Both airbags are deployed. The damage to the body inside the car is not that great.

The emergency services moved out after the report of the traffic accident a little before 6 pm on Friday. No people were in the car.

A large search operation was started after the descent.

Many are looking

– We started a big campaign, and a helicopter was on its way, says Hamburg.

Crews from the Red Cross, Norwegian rescue dogs, the Scouts’ emergency group and several dog crews from the police were to participate in the search. The rescue helicopter SAR-Queen was eventually to assist together with ground crews, the police say.

The man has been checked by health personnel and must be in good condition.
